Teachers and Therapy Dog Teams, by Dr. Barbara Vokatis, is amazing! I think that every teacher and every school administrator should read this book! The author, who has spoken internationally about the benefits of having therapy dogs in the classroom, not only addresses the emotional and social advantages of therapy dogs in school, but also how therapy dogs can be utilized to encourage learning in a variety of subjects. In this book you will see that therapy dogs are not just emotional support animals for the classroom. They can encourage, inspire, and facilitate learning in math, history, language, reading, science, and so much more.
The author doesn’t just theorize about what she believes are the benefits of therapy dogs. Through the recounting of her experiences in the classroom with her own therapy dog and the detailed lesson plans at the back of the book, the author has provided teachers and therapy dog handlers all they need to begin leveraging the opportunities that therapy dogs in the classroom provide.
I recommend this book to every teacher I meet and actually bought 3 copies – one for myself, and one for each of the 2 school principals in my town.

Archer the Therapy Dog makes a great gift!

πI’m so excited! The sequel to one of my favorite books arrived in the mail!
“Dogs with Jobs 2”, by Natalie Leski, is a great book! There are jobs that dogs do that I never even thought of. With beautiful illustrations and clear language, this is a wonderful book for early readers (or any readers!) who love dogs.

Please note, you can’t buy this book on Amazon, but if you go to the Dogs with Jobs website, you can order your copy! Worldwide delivery, too!

Today for the Therapy Dog Book Club, I’m reading “Ernie the Perfectly Wonderful Bad Dog” by Nicole Selby and Tamara Botting.
π
I haven’t finished it yet, but so far, I’m loving this book! Ernie is just like me! He’s a wonderful therapy dog when working, but is a crazy at home. His momma is worried that Ernie won’t be able to be a therapy dog any more because he’s so crazy at home. I wonder if my momma worries about the same thing? π²
π
I love books that keep you guessing and I can’t wait to finish this book to find out what happens to Ernie’s career as a therapy dog.
π
If you’ve read this book, let me know in the comments how you liked it – but don’t tell me how it ends!

Many thanks to @pages.pens.paws for recommending this book to me!πβπ¦Ίβ€οΈπ
Frankie is so amazing in so many ways. First of all, she has her own set of wheelies! Being a dog with wheelies, gives her a unique ability to connect with humans with disabilities.

Becoming a therapy dog is never easy, so it was inspiring to read about how she became a therapy dog and her visit to the people at Libby’s House.

I think you’ll love this book about a doggo who overcomes her own obstacles to bring joy, comfort, understanding, and patience to the people with memory problems.

Halfway Home, by Erin Murphy, gives us a glimpse into the life of a shelter dog who has a bit of difficulty finding just the right furever home. It’s not because he’s a bad dog, but I won’t give any spoilers. I think the important thing to remember is that not every dog is a match with just any family. Some have special needs so they needs a special family. But don’t give up hope, because that furever home is out thereβ€οΈ

Have you read about Frankie? There’s a few books about her, including a coloring book, an activity book, and a book for grown ups, but in “Frankie The Walk ‘n Roll Therapy Dog Visists Libby’s House” by Barbara Techel, Frankie goes to visit people with alzheimers.

Today’s book is not about a therapy dog, but it is about a rescue dog. I love today’s book choice, “Twelve Days of Rescue” by @tonyacartmell_author because it highlights the need for all dogs to find their furever homes. In this book, you’ll learn how Socks goes from the shelter to a loving home and what she learns along the way.

And, as a special bonus that I love, you don’t have to just read this book! You can sing it to the tune of the 12 days of Christmas! I love that!!

I love this book so much that I gave it 6 hearts instead of 5!

Today for the Therapy Dog Book Club I read “Healthcare Heroes: How Therapy Dogs Change Lives!” by Christi Williams and Angela Bozik.
π
I love this book so much! And you can see that Geordi does tooβ€οΈ
π
This book contains so many real life stories and pictures of therapy dogs! Plus, as you can see from the table of contents, it describes how therapy dogs can be helpful in so many settings: not just hospitals and nursing homes, but also dental offices, for speech therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and so much more. I love the explanation of the difference between therapy dogs and facility dogs. Plus there are so many “Did you know” facts!
π
This is an awesome book! I highly recommend this book for every therapy dog library!
