Years ago, I was abruptly thrust into the position of living with a very serious medical condition. In the midst of this, a therapy dog entered my world and changed the course of my entire life in no uncertain terms. He taught me lessons and values in ways that no human ever had or could, and showed me unconditional love that I desperately needed to feel. I regularly see Archer do this and so, so much more to an even greater extent for his vast circle of friends.

I see all of these lessons come through in beautiful, vivid detail in “Archer the Therapy Dog, a Read Together Book”, and in ways that are truly easily accessible for all ages.

I wish I was much younger when I felt in my heart what Archer and his amazing mom Katie teach us and show us with these masterfully crafted words and images. I hope you and a child in your life can read “Archer the Therapy Dog” together and feel your hearts and minds open, as happened for me when I read it, over and over. I cannot possibly recommend this highly enough. Archer and Katie bring joy and healing wherever they go, and that very much includes the pages of this wonderful book.

A fun and informative read together book for children and adults!

A little book with a lot going on! Colorful, cute pictures with little “hidden Archers” on each page. The story on the left side of each page can be read by children probably ages 6-8. The right side of each page is a lot of great information about the benefits of therapy dogs and how they differ from service dogs and emotional support animals. Adults can read this to the children to compliment the story, or just improvise if they want. I had an older child in my class read this part of book. I’ve introduced it to elementary students of different ages and so far, they all find it fun and interesting!

Delightfully crafted and informative book for both adults and children

This delightfully crafted book by author Katie Baron and her young illustrator Emily Beach is a real gem!! Structured as a ‘Read Together’ book (alternating pages are geared towards children and adults, using age-appropriate language providing flexibility in the reading experience), it is both informative and delightful. Archer is Katie’s Therapy Dog and the children’s pages are told from his point of view. The adults’ pages are very informative, explaining, among other things, the differences between Pet, Therapy, Emotional Support, and Service Dogs. Children are encouraged to search for the hidden Archers throughout the book, developing pattern recognition. Even the font has been carefully chosen because it’s easier for people with dyslexia to decipher. I can’t wait to read it to my grandchildren!!!
