A release word is what your hooman says to let you know that you’re done with a command. Like when a sit or a stay is done. For me, my release word is “Ok”, which we learned in class, but my momma doesn’t like at all. It’s an easy word, but there are a couple of problems with “ok”.
🐕 1st, if I get rambunctious, people start saying “ok, ok, settle down, ok”. Which is telling me that it’s ok to be rambunctious. Retraining my 92-year old nana to say “alright” instead of “ok” wasn’t easy👵🏼.
🐕 2nd, Ok is used so much by humans. Momma will put me is a down stay, and then use the word Ok in a remark to my dad and I pop right out of my down stay.
🐕 Momma says that the next puppy will use a different word (but she’ll have to re-train my dad!)
